As we see around ourselves most of the time, it is only after gaining success that an individual is able to get a soul mate. In fact, many a times, people hesitate in going in for a commitment until they are secure about their future with each other. However, despite the popularity of this tradition, there have been seen instances where people accepted each other without the condition of success. Even in Bollywood, we can spot such instances which set an example for all those who love but don’t see success coming around them any time soon…
Bollywood Celebs for Whom Success followed Love:
The Legendary Raj Kapoor
The iconic Raj Kapoor, who by himself has been an inspiring force for many, is the one to lead this list. He got married to Krishna Kapoor, in an arranged marriage in 1940 but his first break in Bollywood came knocking at his doorsteps in 1947 with the movie Neel Kamal. How Raj Kapoor scored in Bollywood is a story that doesn’t require a narration and his relation with his wife too was as strong as his repute in the industry.
Walking on his father’s footsteps, ShashiKapoor too got married quite early in life, in the year 1958 to his theatre artist friend, Jennifer Kendel. The two performed in the theatre together when he was outside India. His first Bollywood performance came three years later, with the movie Dharmaputra, in 1961, followed by a long journey in the Indian film industry.
We all are aware that Dimple stepped into Bollywood with a bang with the release and super success of Bobby in 1973; however, only a few of us are aware that she was a married woman at that time. Dimple married superstar Rajesh Khanna in the year 1972, just six months before the release of her debut movie. Contrary to what the popular tradition of the times was, Dimple’s career took a leap with her debut, despite her married status and she is known as one of the most beautiful stars of the industry till date!
The rocking star of the 1980’s and 90’s, Anil Kapoor made his Bollywood debut in the year 1979 with HamareTumhare. However, he became famous and acquired success in 1984, after the release of Tapori, for which he even got the Filmfare award for best Supporting Actor. Though this was just a start to his popularity among the female fan club, soon after this, Anil got married to SunitaKapoor to the utter disappointment of everyone.
Counting a Khan into our list, we have Aamir Khan, who made his first entry into Bollywood with Yaadon Ki Baarat as a child artist. However, long before he got famous, in the year 1988, due to his performance as a lover boy in Qayamat Se QayamatTak, Aamir got married to ReenaDutta in 1986. It is rumored that Aamir didn’t want his fan following to get impaired due to his married status and hid the fact that he was married for a long time after the movie was released.
One more Khan to join the club, Shahrukh Khan was a struggling actor when he proposed to his girlfriend and love of his life, GauriChibber. His struggler status and muslim faith made it difficult for Gauri’s family to accept him; but where there is love, there does emerge a way! Gauri and Shahrukh got married in 1991, following which Shahrukh got his break in the industry with Deewana. The movie’s success got him a huge fan base and not to miss, the Filmfare Award for the best Male Debut.
Saif Ali Khan
Yet another Khan to join this club, Saif Ali Khan was married to actress Amrita Singh for two long years when his first Bollywood movie, AashiqAwara (1993) was released. The age and faith difference between the two made their marriage a complex one; hence ending in 2004, leaving Khan the caretaker of his two kids out of the wedlock.
This Bollywood heartthrob had enjoyed a marvelous modeling career before hitting the silver screen. It was during his modeling days only that he fell in love with MehrJesia and got married to her in 1998. Soon after that, in 2001, Arjun made his way into Bollywood with his debut movie, Pyar, IshqAurMohobbat, which was accepted well by the audiences.
The latest Bollywood heart throb to hold the ‘taken’ tag is AyushmannKhurrana who tied the knot to his childhood sweetheart well in advance, before targeting for a huge fan following. The success at Bollywood came for him in 2012, one year after his marriage, with the movie Vicky Donor.
Breaking all customs and traditions in Bollywood that prohibit a married woman to hit success, Chitrangada Singh made her superb Bollywood debut in 2003 with HazaaronKhawahisheinAisi. Chitrangada was married to golfer Jyoti Singh Randhawa since two years at that time; yet, her stunning looks have the potential to make anyone fall on their knees with a blink of her eye!
