Here are some of the popular Bollywood celebrities who married recently and also the facts that made their marriage oh so different!
Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Khemu
The arrival of the year 2015 saw the wedding ceremonies of Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Khemu. Both of them had been in a live-in relationship since a long time and finally decided to get married in the latter half of 2014. Their wedding was a grand affair attended by all the prominent faces of Bollywood among the family members of both Kunal and Soha. Though the media was not permitted to be a part of the wedding celebrations, Soha posted a few pictures of herself and the wedding ceremonies on twitter via her personal account.
Abhishek Kapoor and Pragya Yadav:
Remember Kai Po Che and Rock On? Then you must remember Abhishek Kapoor from it. The actor recently married his long time live-in partner Pragya Yadav (of Hawa Hawai fame) in Mumbai. The wedding was a fairly grand affair with the family members and friends of both the actors attending it to bless and congratulate them both.
Ahana Deol and Vaibhav Arora:
The youngest among the Sunny-Bobby-Esha-Ahana Deol league, Ahana Deol married her business man friend Vaibhav Arora in a grand wedding ceremony attended by Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Esha Deol and Bharat Takhtani and Abhay Deol among many other stars from the Film industry. The highlights of the wedding were sizzling dance performances by mother, Hema Malini and sister, Esha Deol at the sangeet and not to forget the emotional touch rendered by dad, Dharmendra who could not get over the fact that his little doll would soon be gone! Awww!
Tillotama Shome and Kunal Ross
Guess who’s the newest addition to the Bachchan family? Its Tillotama Shome aka Alice from Monsoon Wedding. Kunal Ross is the nephew (sister’s son) of Jaya Bachchan. The couple married in a destination wedding in Goa which was attended by the entire Bachchan family along with little doll, Aaradhya.
Harshdeep Kaur and Mankeet Singh
Singer Harshdeep Kaur avoided all the limelight and dazzles while she chose to marry her childhood friend Mankeet Singh. The couple had a hush-hush sikh wedding earlier this year where they took the vows in a sikh temple (gurudwara). Harshdeep posted about her wedding on twitter later with a picture of herself and her husband during the wedding ceremonies.
Arpita Khan and Aayush Sharma
The November of 2014 witnessed the wedding of Salman Khan’s sister Arpita with Aayush Sharma, who is an entrepreneur based in Delhi. The highlight of this wedding was the amount of expenditure that the Khan khandaan did on their sister’s wedding and that Salman booked the lavish Falaknuma Palace of Hyderabad for the wedding going by Arpita’s choice of wedding location. Another highlight of the wedding was the presence of Shahrukh Khan at the wedding. It is reported that Arpita is considered as a sister by Shahrukh alike and it was on the basis if this attachment between the two that Salman himself went to invite Shahrukh at Mannat.
John Abraham and Priya Runchal
This New Year also marked the beginning of a new life for John Abraham who married his longtime girlfriend Priya Runchal in a hush-hush ceremony in the US. John was supposed to be holidaying in the States at this time; however, the wedding came into light after a tweet signed by him as ‘John and Priya Abraham’.
Arijit Singh and Koel Roy
After Harshdeep Kaur, another Bollywood singer who married this year is Arijit Singh. The ‘Tum Hi Ho’ singer married his childhood friend Koel Ray in a typical Bengali wedding which was attended by only the family members and near and dear ones of the two. The wedding remained a hush-hush affair after which Koel and Arijit flew to Kolkata and then to Mumbai to attend the Filmfare event last year.
Ruslaan Mumtaz and Nirali Mehta
In a typical Gujju-style wedding event which was held in March this year, Ruslaan Mumtaz (of Mera Pehla Pehla Pyar fame) married his longtime girlfriend Nirali Mehta. The wedding was a complete fun and frolic event where the baraatis danced till they dropped and had all the fun fair for which the Indian weddings are mostly known.
Pulkit Samrat and Shweta Rohira
Another sister (a rakhi sister) of Salman Khan, Shweta Rohira, got married this year to Pulkit Samrat (of Fukrey fame). All the wedding functions were attended by Salman Khan who even performed the bride’s kanyadaan ceremony. Apart from him, the wedding was attended by most known faces of the film industry among which is Daisy Shah who posted pictures from the wedding on her twitter and facebook accounts.
With so many weddings and celebrations going on, the Bollywood film industry remained all revved up this year; however, we still are only halfway through the year 2015 and there’s still a lot to watch out for in the world of glitz and glamour!
