Cosmetics that might not be Safe to Use during Pregnancy

Many among us are quite prone to using cosmetics and beauty products in our daily routine, without actually realizing what ingredients or contents are used to make them. Though this attitude does not pose a problem in our regular routine, once pregnant, it could lead to some complications since recent researches have revealed that some of the beauty product contents might pose some risks for the pregnant woman and to her growing baby. This happens when these otherwise harmless contents penetrate the skin and enter the body of the user, eventually entering the blood stream (and then it is everywhere!)

We don’t mean to scare you, but it is important that you are aware of the names of these contents and check for them when you go out to purchase some beauty products for yourself during your pregnancy. Read on and know about them for yourself!

The Beauty Product Ingredients to Beware during Pregnancy:

The next time when you go out to shop for some beauty products check for these names in the list of ingredients provided on the label and avoid purchasing the products that contain these:

  1. Dihydroxyacetone (DHA): Commonly found in sprays for self-tanning.

  2. Diethanolamine (DEA): Mostly found in hair sprays and body care products, this ingredient, on entering the blood stream, through the pores in the body and scalp skin can be quite harmful for the pregnant woman and the growing fetus.

  3. Beta-hydroxy acids: Sylicylic acid, trethocanic acid, tropic acid and 3-hydroxypropionic acid are all beta-hydroxy acids, which can be very harmful for the health of the pregnant women.

  4. Aluminum Chloride Hexahydrate and Aluminium Chlorohydrate: Mostly found in antiperspirants.

  5. Formaldehyde: Along with quaternium-15, dimethyl-dimethyl (DMDM), hydantoin, imidazolidinyl urea, diazolidinyl urea, sodium hydroxymethylglycinate, and 2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1,3-diol (bromopol), found in hair straightening solutions, eyelash glues and nail paints.

  6. Menthyl Anthranilate: Along with oxtocrylene, Avobenzone, homosalate, octisalate, octocrylene, oxybenzone and oxtinoxate, mostly used to make chemical-based sunscreen products.

  7. Retinol and chemical vitamin A: Along with retinoic acid, retinyl palmitate, retinadehyde, adapalene, tazarotene, tretinoin and isotretinoin, found in vitamin A enriched products.

  8. Parabens: Found in propyl, butyl, isobutyl, isopropyl and methyl parabens containing beauty products.

  9. Phthalates (esp. diethyl and dibutyl): Found in products containing synthetic fragrances and also in nail paints.

  10. Hydroquinone: Found in skin lightening products.

  11. Toluene: Along with methylbenzene, toluol and antisal; found in nail paints.

  12. Thioglycolic acid: Also labelled as acetyl mercaptan, mercaptoacetate, thiovanic acid and mercaptoacetic acid; found mostly in chemical-based hair removers.

While you take all the precautions and modify your lifestyle in so many ways during your pregnancy, make sure that you start looking into the labels of your favorite beauty products as well to be sure that you don’t allow any harm to reach you and your baby through those!

  1. Hello Web Admin, I noticed that your On-Page SEO is is missing a few factors, for one you do not use all three H tags in your post, also I notice that you are not using bold or italics properly in your SEO optimization. On-Page SEO means more now than ever since the new Google update: Panda. No longer are backlinks and simply pinging or sending out a RSS feed the key to getting Google PageRank or Alexa Rankings, You now NEED On-Page SEO. So what is good On-Page SEO?First your keyword must appear in the title. Then it must appear in the URL.You have to optimize your keyword and make sure that it has a nice keyword density of 3-5% in your article with relevant LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing). Then you should spread all H1,H2,H3 tags in your article.Your Keyword should appear in your first paragraph and in the last sentence of the page. You should have relevant usage of Bold and italics of your keyword. There should be one internal link to a page on your blog and you should have one image with an alt tag that has your keyword….wait there’s even more Now what if i told you there was a simple WordPress plugin that does all the On-Page SEO, and automatically for you? That’s right AUTOMATICALLY, just watch this 4minute video for more information at. Seo Plugin
